Offline Activation of Data Libraries for Air Gap Environments
Last Updated on July 17, 2024 | 3 min read
Recommendation
Users should always opt for online activation when possible, to set up their user profile and download data. In air gap settings, it’s crucial to refresh authorization information periodically and when importing new data licenses.
This procedure provides instructions for users needing to activate and utilize data libraries in environments without an internet connection (e.g. air gap setups). The library itself must be manually downloaded from the NIVOMAX Self-Serve Portal and imported into the Viewer.
Learn about Offline vs. Air Gap setups
Prerequisites
- Desktop or laptop device without internet connection where the NIVOMAX Viewer is installed.
- Secondary device with internet access for file transfers.
Step-by-Step Activation Process
Step 1: Initial Setup
Launch the Application: Start the NIVOMAX Viewer Desktop Edition or NIVOMAX Data Server on the device without internet. The system will check for an internet connection for ten seconds and then display the Offline Access screen.
-
- User ID: Enter the User ID used for Single Sign-On. This ID must be the same one used to log into the NIVOMAX Self-Serve Portal (SSP) to setup the user and used to download the Library Archives from the SSP.
- Activation Token: Click the ACTIVATION TOKEN button to generate and download the token.nmx file. Save this on a USB drive for transfer.
Step 2: Activation Token Upload
Access the Self-Serve Portal: On a device with internet, open a web browser and navigate to the NIVOMAX Self-Serve Portal. Go to Downloads & Activation > Offline Activation.
-
- Upload Token: Locate and upload the token.nmx file by clicking or dragging it into the file upload zone.
- Download Profile: Once the token is successfully uploaded and verified, the ‘DOWNLOAD PROFILE’ button will be enabled.
Step 3: Select and Download Libraries
Available Libraries: The portal page will now display a list of digital products available for activation in a tabular format.
-
- Library Selection: Select the required libraries to activate. Note that quantities are editable only if a token.nmx from a Data Server was uploaded in Step 2.
When activating digital products on the NIVOMAX Data Server, ensure that the selected quantity matches the number of concurrent NIVOMAX Client Viewers required to access the library.
- Download Profile.nmx: Click ‘DOWNLOAD PROFILE’ to generate and download the profile.nmx file. Transfer this file back to the air gap device via USB.
- Library Selection: Select the required libraries to activate. Note that quantities are editable only if a token.nmx from a Data Server was uploaded in Step 2.
Step 4: Import Libraries on Air Gap Device
Final Setup: Launch the NIVOMAX Viewer Desktop Edition or NIVOMAX Data Server with the profile.nmx file on the air gap device.
-
- User ID Selection: Enter or select the User ID used in previous steps, it is critical that they match.
- Profile Upload: Click or drag the profile.nmx file into the file upload zone.
- Work Offline: Click ‘WORK OFFLINE’ to continue using the application with the newly imported data libraries.
Additional Notes
- Ensure that the User ID used for generating the token matches across all steps to avoid activation failures.
- Regularly refresh your activation files to maintain access to the latest data and comply with license agreements.
This guide aims to facilitate your experience with NIVOMAX in air gap environments, ensuring access to critical data libraries without direct internet connectivity.
