Purpose of This Page
This page explains the role and responsibilities of a Data License Administrator (DLA). It also explains how data licenses are managed when onboarding with an ePub Supplier.

What Is a Data License Administrator?
A Data License Administrator (DLA) is the authorized person who manages access to licensed data content.
The DLA is assigned by:
- The OEM, or
- The Content Supplier, or
- The customer organization
Responsibilities of the Data License Administrator
The Data License Administrator is responsible for the following tasks:
- Request data licenses from the ePub Supplier
- Approve access to licensed content
- Assign licenses to authorized users or systems
- Confirm license entitlement and usage rights
- Coordinate with the OEM or Content Supplier
- Support license renewals, changes, or removals
Data Licenses and NIVOMAX
NIVOMAX does not issue or sell data licenses.
Data licenses are:
- Supplied by the ePub Supplier
- Distributed through the OEM or Content Supplier
- Managed by the Data License Administrator
NIVOMAX only provides the software platform that uses licensed data.
Onboarding With an ePub Supplier
During onboarding, the Data License Administrator must:
- Confirm licensed content and usage rights
- Ensure data licenses (entitlements) are issued and subscriptions are updated
- Coordinate delivery through the OEM or Content Supplier
- Verify access after installation
User Access and Licensing
End users cannot request data licenses directly.
Access is granted only when:
- A valid unused data license exists
- The user is authorized by the DLA
- The OEM or Content Supplier enables access by activating the digital product in the active subscription
