Audience: This article is for NIVOMAX Viewer end users.
Purpose
This article explains how content filtering works in NIVOMAX Viewers. It describes how users filter content by Product Sequence Number (PSN) and how Service Bulletin (SB) incorporation status affects filtered results.
Overview
NIVOMAX filtering hides content that does not apply to the selected configuration. Filtering is based on:
- One or more Product Sequence Numbers (PSNs) entered by the user
- Service Bulletin (SB) incorporation status set by the user
Filtering is a global viewer action. Service Bulletin configuration is applied one aircraft at a time.
Key Concepts
Applicability Filtering
- Applicability Filtering is controlled by the user.
- Filtering evaluates applicability conditions authored by the OEM.
- Filtering affects:
- Data module visibility
- Content sections
- Table of Contents entries
Service Bulletin Configuration
- Service Bulletin configuration allows the user to set SB incorporation status.
- SB status can be changed from PRE to POST for a specific aircraft.
- SB configuration does not automatically hide or show content.
Important
To apply filtering based on SB status changes, Applicability Filtering must be enabled.
Filtering by Product Sequence Number (PSN)
Set PSN Values
- Select the
Applicability Filter icon on the Tab Toolbar.
- Enter one or more Product Sequence Numbers (PSNs).
- Apply the filter.
The Viewer evaluates applicability conditions authored for the content.
Filtering Results
Depending on OEM-defined rules:
- Entire data modules may be:
- Greyed out
- Disabled in the Table of Contents
- Sections within a data module may be:
- Greyed out
- Partially redacted
- Fully redacted
Redacted sections display the message: “Content below is hidden due to your selected Product Sequence Number (PSN)”
Filtering and the Table of Contents
When Applicability Filtering is enabled:
- Data modules that do not apply to the selected PSN set:
- Appear greyed out in the Table of Contents
- May be disabled and not selectable
- Viewer behavior may vary based on OEM configuration:
- Some distributions allow opening the module
- Content will still appear greyed out or redacted
Configuring Service Bulletin Status
Service Bulletin configuration is performed independently of filtering.
Set SB Incorporation Status
- Open the
Service Bulletin Configurator.
- Select the applicable aircraft.
- Set the SB status:
- PRE (not incorporated)
- POST (incorporated)
This action updates the SB condition state for that aircraft only.
Applying Filtering After SB Configuration
Changing SB status alone does not hide or show content. To apply filtering based on the new SB condition:
- Ensure Applicability Filtering is enabled.
- The Viewer re-evaluates applicability using:
- Current PSN values
- Updated SB incorporation status
Content is then filtered according to OEM-defined applicability rules.
Important Behavior Notes
- Applicability Filtering is global in the Viewer.
- Service Bulletin configuration is aircraft-specific.
- Users do not need to enable filtering to set SB status.
- Users must enable filtering to see content changes based on SB status.
- Redaction style (greyed or hidden) is defined by the OEM.
Summary
- Users filter content by entering PSN values.
- SB incorporation status is configured separately.
- Filtering applies PSN and SB conditions together.
- The Viewer hides non-applicable content based on OEM rules.
- The Table of Contents reflects filtered applicability.
