Disclaimer

SYNAXIOM does not distribute NIVOMAX Viewer setup files directly to end users. To obtain the necessary setup files, users must download a copy directly from the Technical Publications Supplier's NIVOMAX Self Serve portal, subsequent to agreeing to the terms and conditions stipulated therein. The Technical Publication Supplier, possessing a valid Distribution ID for their copy of the NIVOMAX Applications, is the sole distributor. Access to and use of the NIVOMAX Viewer is contingent upon the purchase of a Data License for a digital product from the Technical Publications Supplier. The digital product downloaded will function exclusively with the viewer provided by the respective Supplier. Users are advised that the distribution of NIVOMAX Viewer setup files may be governed by applicable export control regulations depending on their region.

Licensing

It is not necessary for end-users to purchase a separate NIVOMAX license. The Technical Publications Supplier from whom you have acquired your Data License has already procured the requisite licenses from SYNAXIOM. By extending an invitation, they include you within their authorized user pool, as permitted under their NIVOMAX license agreement. You are authorized to use the NIVOMAX software provided the Technical Publications Supplier maintains a valid NIVOMAX software license.

Working Offline

This guide provides instructions on how to operate the NIVOMAX Viewer Desktop Edition and NIVOMAX Data Server applications in offline modes. It addresses scenarios where internet connectivity is compromised, either temporarily or permanently, including server-side failures or air gap environments.

Important Note

When encountering issues with Single-Sign-On (SSO) or other server-side system failure, NIVOMAX Viewers (Windows apps) offer an offline access option. This feature is crucial when online support features are unavailable and users need to still access the libraries. Ensure your user profile is properly set up in the NIVOMAX applications prior to using the offline access feature:

  1. Your user is correctly provisioned within the platform.
  2. You have either logged in via SSO through the application or completed the Offline Activation process prior to the system being unavailable. Users will not be able to setup and use the NIVOMAX Viewers while there is an ongoing server side system failure.

Common Offline Scenarios

Scenario 1: Server-Side Support Unavailable

Issue: The client cannot connect to NIVOMAX servers, experiences a system hang-up, or encounters a (404) or (502) error indicating server or proxy issues.

Next Steps:

You will be prompted to work offline if the system detects these issues upon attempting to log in.

Scenario 2: Login Timeout

Issue: The login process exceeds a 60-second timeout due to SSO errors or server unavailability.

Next Steps:

  • Restart the application; you will be prompted to work offline.
  • If the last login attempt was unsuccessful due to SSO issues, close and reopen the application to receive offline mode options.

Instructions for Accessing Offline Mode

Unsuccessful Login Attempt

If you fail to complete the login process, the application will present the LOGIN OPTIONS dialog box with two options:

  1. WORK OFFLINE: Choose this option to operate in offline mode by choice, even if an internet connection becomes available.
  2. LOGIN: Attempt to log in normally using your BID.

If you select WORK OFFLINE, the “NIVOMAX VIEWER OFFLINE ACCESS” window will appear where you can enter your User ID and proceed to access the libraries offline.

Re-Launching the NIVOMAX Viewer

  • The NIVOMAX Viewer applications remember your last session’s state.
  • Upon relaunch, if previously set to work offline, you will again be presented with the choice to continue offline or attempt a login.

Special Considerations

  • Offline Activation: Users in air gap environments should have their profiles and licenses pre-configured since these systems never connect to the internet.
  • Profile Setup: Ensure all setups are completed while connected to a network with internet before transitioning to an air gap environment to avoid complications or perform the steps required to activate data libraries offline.

Exiting Offline Mode

Remembering Settings: Both the NIVOMAX Viewer Desktop Edition Standalone and NIVOMAX Data Server applications retain the last used settings for the WORK OFFLINE feature, making it easier to resume work in your preferred mode upon restarting the software.

By understanding and utilizing these guidelines, users can effectively manage their work on NIVOMAX applications under various offline conditions, ensuring continued productivity and data access regardless of network connectivity.
