System Requirements for NIVOMAX Applications

Disclaimer

SYNAXIOM does not distribute NIVOMAX Viewer setup files directly to end users. To obtain the necessary setup files, users must download a copy directly from the Technical Publications Supplier's NIVOMAX Self Serve portal, subsequent to agreeing to the terms and conditions stipulated therein. The Technical Publication Supplier, possessing a valid Distribution ID for their copy of the NIVOMAX Applications, is the sole distributor. Access to and use of the NIVOMAX Viewer is contingent upon the purchase of a Data License for a digital product from the Technical Publications Supplier. The digital product downloaded will function exclusively with the viewer provided by the respective Supplier. Users are advised that the distribution of NIVOMAX Viewer setup files may be governed by applicable export control regulations depending on their region.

Licensing

It is not necessary for end-users to purchase a separate NIVOMAX license. The Technical Publications Supplier from whom you have acquired your Data License has already procured the requisite licenses from SYNAXIOM. By extending an invitation, they include you within their authorized user pool, as permitted under their NIVOMAX license agreement. You are authorized to use the NIVOMAX software provided the Technical Publications Supplier maintains a valid NIVOMAX software license.

Authentication and User Profile

  • Credentials: Use Single Sign-On (SSO) login credentials.

One User Profile Per Installation (Desktop, Network, and Mobile Editions)

Within the NIVOMAX Viewer, libraries are licensed for activation by a single user profile (UserlD) per installation. Logging in via SSO with multiple user accounts creates multiple profiles, which may corrupt access authorization data and cause the Library List to appear crossed out. If this occurs, a full uninstall of the NIVOMAX Viewer (including all libraries), followed by a fresh download and activation of the libraries, will be required to restore access.

NIVOMAX Viewer Web Edition

  • Browser: Use the latest version of modern web browsers like Edge, Chrome, Firefox, or Safari. Behavior may vary slightly between these browsers. For best results, use a Chromium-based browser (e.g., Chrome, Edge).
  • Operating System (OS): The NIVOMAX Viewer Web Edition is OS agnostic. The operating system must support a modern web browser based on Mozilla (e.g., Firefox), Chromium (e.g., Chrome, Edge), or WebKit (e.g., Safari).
  • Display Requirements: The device must meet the display requirements specified for optimal viewing.

NIVOMAX Windows Editions – Common Requirements

Warning !

Permissions & Security

  • Windows Administrator User: Administrator privileges are required for installing NIVOMAX and configuring antivirus and firewall settings as necessary.
  • Windows Restricted User: Users must run the NIVOMAX application with administrator privileges. Administrator privileges are required to have read/write permissions to the Library Data Store.
    • Without WRITE permissions to the Library Data Store (the folder where libraries are stored), actions such as importing new data libraries or updating existing ones cannot be performed.
    • Without READ/WRITE permissions, the application may fail to operate properly, as it cannot access necessary files on the disk.

Prerequisites

The Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable is essential for operating the NIVOMAX Desktop and Network Editions. If it is not already installed on your system, you will be prompted to download and install it during the NIVOMAX setup, or you can install it in advance using the link provided.

Display Requirements

Use NIVOMAX Applications on devices with the following screen resolutions to avoid issues with interface rendering:

  • 1280 x 1024 (SXGA)
  • 1366 x 768 (HD)
  • 1600 x 900 (HD+)
  • 1920 x 1200 (WUXGA)
  • 2560 x 1440 (QHD)
  • 3440 x 1440 (WQHD)
  • 3840 x 2160 (4K/UHD)

Self-Serve Portal Workspace – Display Advisory

On tablets smaller than 13 inches (or devices with screen widths between 960px and 1280px), content within the Self-Serve Portal Workspace may be hidden. If this occurs, simply adjust the browser zoom level (zoom in or out) until the workspace content becomes visible.

System Requirements

  • Operating System: Windows 10 / 11, Windows Server 2012[*], Windows Server 2016+
  • Memory (RAM): Minimum of 4 GB
  • Storage:
    • 2 GB for NIVOMAX installation (must be installed on the local disk, not a network drive).
    • 2 GB to ~20 GB for the ePub library (varies by library size).
  • Network: Port 3000 must be open (http://localhost:3000). Adjust firewall or security settings if necessary. Custom port may also be set during installation.

Connectivity

  • Internet: Broadband connection recommended (10Mbps or faster).
  • Access Required to URLs:
    • https://[ePub-Supplier-domain.com] /self-serve/*
    • https:// [ePub-Supplier-domain.com] /nvm-broker/*

You must replace https://[ePub-Supplier-domain.com] with the actual domain name used by your ePubs supplier. Refer to the “Getting Started” information sheet provided by your ePubs supplier for the correct domain details associated with their distribution of NIVOMAX.

NIVOMAX Network Edition Requirements

  • Library Storage: Use a high-performance network file system or local HDD with ample free space.
  • Data Server: Compatible with Windows Server 2012[*], Windows Server 2016+
  • Client Viewer: Port 4200 must be open (http://localhost:4200). The Client Viewer does not use port 3000. Custom port may also be set during installation. The Client Viewer is recommended for use on Windows 10 or 11.

NIVOMAX Mobile Edition

To use the NIVOMAX Viewer Mobile Edition in production, ensure the following:

Hardware and Software

  • iPad with iPadOS 17.x: The app requires iPadOS 17.x or later for compatibility.
  • Apple ID: An active Apple ID must be set up on your iPad to download apps from the App Store.
  • Recommended Device: For optimal workspace and usability, we recommend using a 13″ iPad over smaller units.

Account and Subscription Setup

  • SSO Account: Provided by your ePubs supplier for secure login.
  • Subscription Setup: Your ePubs supplier is responsible for:
    • Setting up your user account for SSO authentication.
    • Assigning subscriptions to the relevant data libraries.
    • Provisioning licenses via the NIVOMAX Self-Serve Portal.

Network and Connectivity

  • Fast and Reliable Wi-Fi: A stable high-speed Wi-Fi connection is required to download large data libraries without interruptions.
  • Network Security: Ensure that network configurations allow access to the required URL for downloading data libraries and app updates. Contact your network administrator to verify that firewalls or security policies do not block this access.

Battery and Storage Requirements

  • Battery Life: Ensure a minimum of 25% battery life before downloading data libraries to prevent interruptions.

Storage Space:

    • Adequate free space is required for downloading and extracting data libraries.
    • You will need 2x the size of the library for download and extraction.
    • After the data library is imported, ensure at least 5 GB of free space is available for optimal performance.
    • Note: Downloads will only proceed if sufficient storage space is available to meet these requirements.

Installation Advisory

  • Do not install both the Desktop and Network Edition Data Server on the same computer.
  • You can install both the Desktop and Network EditionClient Viewer on the same computer.
  • The Network Edition apps (Data Server and Client Viewer) can be installed on the same computer.
[*] – Windows Server 2012 End of Life:  As of October 2023, Windows Server 2012 R2 has reached the end of its lifecycle and is no longer supported by Microsoft for feature updates. Only critical security patches are available through the Extended Security Update (ESU) program, which is a paid service. It is strongly recommended to upgrade to a newer version, such as Windows Server 2016 or later, to ensure continued support, access to new features, and enhanced security.
