NIVOMAX Viewer: Upgrade Procedure to v3.4.2 for Desktop and Network Edition Users

Disclaimer

SYNAXIOM does not distribute NIVOMAX Viewer setup files directly to end users. To obtain the necessary setup files, users must download a copy directly from the Technical Publications Supplier's NIVOMAX Self Serve portal, subsequent to agreeing to the terms and conditions stipulated therein. The Technical Publication Supplier, possessing a valid Distribution ID for their copy of the NIVOMAX Applications, is the sole distributor. Access to and use of the NIVOMAX Viewer is contingent upon the purchase of a Data License for a digital product from the Technical Publications Supplier. The digital product downloaded will function exclusively with the viewer provided by the respective Supplier. Users are advised that the distribution of NIVOMAX Viewer setup files may be governed by applicable export control regulations depending on their region.

Licensing

It is not necessary for end-users to purchase a separate NIVOMAX license. The Technical Publications Supplier from whom you have acquired your Data License has already procured the requisite licenses from SYNAXIOM. By extending an invitation, they include you within their authorized user pool, as permitted under their NIVOMAX license agreement. You are authorized to use the NIVOMAX software provided the Technical Publications Supplier maintains a valid NIVOMAX software license.

Introduction

This guide provides detailed instructions on managing the NIVOMAX Viewer upgrade. This includes improvements in S1000D Libraries printing. The upgrade requires upgrading the app and updating the affected Data Libraries on the device. This document assists different user groups in handling the updates.

Before you begin, please review

Common Case

Average users with adequate bandwidth and authorization (Windows Administrator Privileges) to update the software and data libraries.

Upgrade Process

  1. Update the NIVOMAX Viewer App:
  • Download and install NIVOMAX Viewer v3.4.2 by clicking the System Update Available icon or by going to your ePubs Supplier’s Self-Serve Portal > Download Center.
  1. Download and Install Latest S1000D Data Libraries:
  • Obtain and update to the latest published S1000D Data Libraries from the Download Manager or your ePubs Supplier’s Self-Serve Portal > Download Center.

Your system will be updated with the latest NIVOMAX Viewer software and its corresponding data libraries.

Users with Bandwidth Restrictions

Users with download limitations or slow internet connectivity who can download the NIVOMAX Viewer but cannot download Data Libraries directly.

Upgrade Process

  1. Acquire Zip Archives of Data Libraries:
  • Download from your ePubs Supplier’s Self-Serve Portal > Download Center on to a separate device with access to adequate bandwidth, store on a portable storage medium, and have the archives ready for import.
  • Request assistance from your IT department or ePubs Supplier to access the affected Data Library archives if you are unable to download them yourself.
  1. Update the NIVOMAX Viewer App:
  • Download and install NIVOMAX Viewer v3.4.2 using the System Update Available icon or by going to your ePubs Supplier’s Self-Serve Portal > Download Center.
  1. Manually Import Data Libraries:

Your system will be updated with the latest NIVOMAX Viewer software and its corresponding data libraries.

Users operating in Air Gap Setups

Users operating in completely segregated environments without internet connectivity.

Upgrade Process

  1. Acquire Zip Archives of Data Libraries:
  • Download from your ePubs Supplier’s Self-Serve Portal > Download Center on to a separate device, store on a portable storage medium, and have the archives ready for import.
  • Request assistance from your IT department or ePubs Supplier to access the affected Data Library archives if you are unable to download them yourself.
  1. Acquire Latest NIVOMAX Viewer Installer:
  • Download NIVOMAX Viewer v3.4.2 from ePubs Supplier’s Self-Serve Portal Portal > Download Center on a separate device, save on a portable storage medium, or request assistance from your IT department.
  1. Update the NIVOMAX Viewer App:
  • Install NIVOMAX Viewer v3.4.2, or request assistance from your IT department to install the software if you do not have sufficient Windows privileges.
  1. Manually Import Data Libraries:

Your system will be updated with the latest NIVOMAX Viewer software and its corresponding data libraries. Assistance from IT may be required due to the need for Windows Administrator privileges.

Instructions for Enterprise IT Departments

Setups where users are not authorized to make changes and require IT Administrator intervention.

Upgrade Process

  1. Download Latest NIVOMAX Viewer App:
  • Download NIVOMAX Viewer v3.4.2 from ePubs Supplier’s Self-Serve Portal Portal > Download Center after accepting the End User Agreement.
  1. Gather Affected Data Libraries:
  • Download the Data Library Zip archives from your ePubs Supplier’s Self-Serve Portal > Download Center and have the archives ready for import.
  1. Upgrade Each Device:
  • Begin with the Software Update followed by the Library Update.
  • Network Edition: Network Client Users will lose access during the upgrade.
  • Desktop Edition: Upgrade sequentially per workstation to minimize disruption.
  1. Unattended Installation:
  • Refer to the guide: Unattended Installations for NIVOMAX Viewer
  • Update Data Libraries immediately after the software update to ensure compatibility.

Devices will be updated with the latest NIVOMAX Viewer software and corresponding data libraries.

Best Practices for Upgrade

  1. Pre-Upgrade:
  • Backup existing Data Store.
  • Note the Data Store path and ensure accessibility if on external storage.
  • For Network Edition users, note all network settings.
  1. Upgrade:
  • Install the NIVOMAX Viewer app first.
  • Immediately follow with the data upgrade.
  • Validate the upgrade by performing common end-user tasks.
  1. Post-Upgrade:
