Adding and Maintaining ePubs Libraries

Applicable Apps
- NIVOMAX Viewer Desktop Edition
- NIVOMAX Viewer Network Edition – Data Server
Once the NIVOMAX Viewer is installed on your system, the next step involves adding ePubs Libraries. There are two methods to achieve this: using the integrated Download Manager within the Viewer or manually importing zip files downloaded from the Self-Serve Portal (SSP).
Prerequisites
Consult the NIVOMAX System Requirements before continuing, as some Data Libraries may require significant storage space.
- Username & Password: Ensure you have SSO login credentials.
- Data Library License: Verify that at least one data license is assigned to your user by your Data License Administrator via the SSP. You will only see a download option for available data licenses.
- Sufficient Storage: Verify that you have 2 gigabytes (GB) to ~20 GB free storage space on your computer or Network Storage File System (space requirement varies depending on the size of the ePub library you are installing).
- Sufficient Privileges: Confirm you have the necessary permissions to import libraries. This may involve:
- Library Import Permissions: Check if Windows security settings permit the drag & drop feature for manual library imports. If not, you may need to consult your IT Helpdesk for adjustments.
- File Access Permissions: Users lacking read/write access to the Library Data Store must run the NIVOMAX Application as an ‘administrator’.
Method 1: Automatic Import via the Download Manager
- Access the Download Manager: Click the
icon in the Main Toolbar to access the Download Manager.
- Select the Desired Library: Choose the complete ePubs Library or library update to download:
- List of Available Libraries: Complete Library Zip Archives
- List of Available Library Update(s): Library Update Zip Archives
- Download and Import: Press the
Start button next to the library name to start downloading. The NIVOMAX Viewer will automatically import the library when the download is complete.
Warning!
Do not exit the application while the downloaded Library is being extracted and imported.
NOTE: Only one active download is allowed at a time; the download list and other Download Manager features are inactive while a library is downloading, extracting, and installing.
Method 2: Manual Import via Self-Serve Portal Library Archive Download
- Log into the SSP: Use your credentials to access your account on the Self-Serve Portal.
- Download the Required ePubs Library:
- Find the desired ePubs Library from the list available at Downloads & Activation >> Library Downloads Page.
- Click the download link to save the library as a zip file.
- Find the Downloaded Zip File: Go to the folder where the zip file was downloaded.
- Manually Import the Library into the NIVOMAX Viewer:
- Click the
icon option from the NIVOMAX Menu to access the Library Import Interface.
- Upload the Library (or Update) Archive using the file Drop Zone:
- Drag and Drop: Drag the file here to start the upload.
- Click to Browse: Click here to open your device’s file system. Choose the document you want to upload.
- Follow on-screen instructions to finalize the import.
- Click the
Note: Manual import offers flexibility and is especially useful in scenarios with security or bandwidth restrictions. It is also faster and more efficient for updating multiple workstations running the NIVOMAX Desktop Edition or Network Data Server, as you don’t need to repeatedly download the libraries.
Removing (Deleting) Libraries
- Library List: Shows the status of libraries and allows the removal of locally installed libraries.
- Delete a Library: Click the
icon under the Delete data column for the Library row in the Library List interface.
- Release the License: You can choose to release the license for use on another device while keeping the data locally for later reactivation. In the pop-up dialog box, select the option Do not delete data. Alternatively, you can completely remove the data and release the license.
- Delete a Library: Click the
Best Practices
- Use online features whenever possible to keep your data libraries up-to-date.
- For users requiring access to a library from more than one location, the Network Edition is ideal. It allows convenient data and license management with just one license, as the access is not concurrent.
- When setting up the Data Server for teams, make sure enough licenses are available and added to the Data Server. It is advisable to have one Data License Administrator per Data Server instance to avoid complexities in library updates and license management.
Troubleshooting
Cannot see the Data Library available for download in the Download Manager or the Self-Serve Portal > Download Center:
- The required Data License is not assigned to the user in the Self-Serve Portal.
- The license assigned to the user is currently active on another device.
