Organizing Data Containers

Last Updated on July 17, 2024 | 3 min read

The Organize function allows publishers to categorize manuals within a Data Container (DC) into blocks and give each manual an optional unique long title. Publishers can categorize manuals into high-level categories, delete manuals from the DC, edit manual details such as the name that appears in the Library List, and apply custom sorting of the sequence in which they appear on the Library List.

Loading the Organize Tools

  1. Select the Data Repositories icon from the top toolbar.
  2. Select the DC tab.
  3. Select the Organize option from the Manage drop-down list.
  4. Select a Data Container from the drop-down list labeled DC Name to load the available manuals in the DC.
    • A newly created DC will have one TEMP category set up with all the manuals in it.
    • An existing organized DC will load its current structure.

Structure When Creating Categories and Sorting Manuals

Data Containers can be organized into Categories as below:

    • Category 1
      • Application Control Menu IconManual 1
      • Application Control Menu IconManual 2
    • Category 2
      • Application Control Menu IconManual 3
      • Application Control Menu IconManual 4

Setting up Categories

  1. Create New Category: Click the + sign at the right of the category block. A new block will appear at the end of the stack.
  2. Expand Category Block: Click on the Category Block to expand it. An expanded block is identified with a + icon, and a collapsed block is identified with a – icon.
  3. Delete a Category: Click the delete icon to delete a category.
  4. Category Type: Publishers can insert a description type to the block, e.g., Flight Manuals.
  5. Category Title: Similar to the long title, publishers can provide a descriptive title for the category, e.g., Supersonic Jet 5500 Collection.

The NIVOMAX Viewer will show the Category block as a header in the Manual List as, CATEGORY TYPE | CATEGORY TITLE.

e.g., Flight Manuals | Supersonic Jet 5500 Collection.

Moving Manuals between Categories

  1. Expand the source category by clicking on the Category Block Title.
  2. Expand the manual being moved by clicking the Manual Block Title.
  3. Click the drop-down list labeled Category Types and select the destination category. The manual will immediately move to that category.
  4. Click the UPDATE button at the bottom of the form to apply the change.

Sorting Manuals within a Category

  1. Click and hold the Manual Drag Indicator icon to the far left of the Manual Title Block. The mouse pointer will change to a icon.
  2. Drag and release the mouse click at the desired location, moving the manual there.
  3. Click the UPDATE button at the bottom of the form to apply the change.

Renaming a Manual

  1. Expand the category by clicking on the Category Block Title.
  2. Expand the manual by clicking the Manual Block Title.
  3. Enter the new name for the manual in the text input field below the current manual name.
  4. Click the UPDATE button at the bottom of the form to apply the change.

Note: If the manual appears highlighted in red, select the XML to use by expanding the manual block. This occurs when the data imported contains more than one Manual XML in the import archive.
