Computer Graphics Metafile (CGM): CGM stands for Computer Graphics Metafile, a file format for 2D vector graphics, raster graphics, and text. It is used in technical illustrations, geophysical data visualization, and engineering tasks due to its precision in graphical representation.
Data Module (DM): A Data Module in S1000D is an information unit that represents a specific topic or task, stored in a discrete, self-contained format.
Data Module Code (DMC): A Data Module Code uniquely identifies each data module in an S1000D technical documentation system, helping to easily manage and reference information across various publications.
Extensible Markup Language (XML): XML is a flexible markup language used for storing, transmitting, and reconstructing arbitrary data. It is both human-readable and machine-readable, making it ideal for complex data applications.
Illustrated Parts Data Publication (IPDP): An IPDP includes data modules that provide illustrated details about parts and components of systems covered by S1000D, including drawings or photos alongside textual or tabular information.
Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETM): An IETM is a digital, interactive manual used to support the operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment. It enhances accessibility and efficiency through features like hyperlinks, multimedia elements, and interactive navigation.
Interactive Electronic Technical Publications (IETP): An IETP is a digital and interactive form of technical documentation for systems or equipment. It offers dynamic features such as interactive navigation and multimedia elements, and provides up-to-date support information.
iSpec2200: iSpec 2200 is a global standard that includes the ATA100 numbering system for managing aviation documentation. It provides guidelines for preparing, managing, and using technical documentation for aircraft maintenance and operation.
List of Available Supporting Documents (LOESD): The LOESD includes additional materials attached by OEMs to the main content in the Table of Contents, offering supplementary information not officially approved as part of the primary documentation.
List of Effective Temporary Revisions (LOETR): A temporary revision is an interim update to a document addressing urgent changes. These revisions provide critical information swiftly and are incorporated into the next official document revision.
Local Area Network (LAN): A LAN is a network on a single site that connects computers and other devices to share resources and information.
Publications Module (PM): A Publications Module in S1000D defines the structure and content of a publication, incorporating data modules and other publications modules for comprehensive documentation.
Publications Module Code (PMC): A Publications Module Code uniquely identifies each publications module, facilitating efficient management and referencing within the S1000D framework.
S1000D: S1000D is an international specification that structures the management and delivery of technical information across the aerospace and defense industries. It promotes efficiency and standardization through modular documentation.
Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG): SVG is an XML-based markup language used to describe two-dimensional vector graphics, enabling dynamic and scalable visual content in web applications.
Service Bulletin (SB): A Service Bulletin is a communication from an OEM detailing modifications and safety information about products in use, ensuring that operators have current and accurate data.
Standard Generalized Markup Language (SGML): SGML is a markup language used to define the structure and presentation of electronic documents. It separates content from presentation and serves as the foundation for HTML and XML, widely used in publishing and aerospace industries for document management.
Standard Numbering System (SNS): The SNS is a classification system that organizes information by systems, subsystems, and units/assemblies in IETP documentation, enhancing data management and retrieval.
ePubs Supplier
Digital Product: A digital product is the technical publications library sold under subscription by the ePubs Suppliers. These digital products are intended for use with the NIVOMAX Viewer software.
Distribution ID: An alphanumeric code represents the specific customized instance of the NIVOMAX Platform assigned to each unique ePubs Supplier. This code also identifies the ePubs Supplier who provided the NIVOMAX Viewer Software to the user.
Distribution Logo: Also referred to as the ePubs Supplier Logo or Top Left Logo, according to the co-branding guidelines. This logo is specifically positioned in the top left corner of the NIVOMAX Viewer within the designated area for the ePubs Supplier’s landscape logo.
ePubs Supplier: Refers to the organization that sells licenses for their digital technical publications products, which are accessed using the NIVOMAX Viewer software. ePubs Suppliers are also responsible for distributing the NIVOMAX Viewer software setup files to end users.
NIVOMAX Platform
NIVOMAX Platform: NIVOMAX is an advanced platform designed for Interactive Electronic Technical Publications (IETP) and Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETM). It consolidates and delivers technical publication data, making it ideal for professionals in the aviation industry who manage mixed fleets and multi-OEM sourced tech publications.
Data License: A Data License is a type of purchase that customers make to access Digital Products provided by the ePubs supplier. This license allows users to legally use the digital content.
Single Sign-On (SSO): Single Sign-On (SSO) is an authentication process that allows a user to access multiple applications or systems using a single set of login credentials. SSO streamlines the login process, enhances security, and simplifies the management of access across different platforms and applications, reducing the need for multiple logins.
Status Bar: Located at the bottom of the interface, the Status Bar displays notifications and copyright information to keep users informed about the application’s status.
Activation
Offline Activation: This is the process used to activate locked data libraries in environments without internet connectivity, such as air gap setups or on isolated workstations. It enables users to access and utilize necessary technical publications offline.
Profile.nmx File: The Profile.nmx file is crucial in the offline activation process. It contains authorization data and is generated and downloadable after successfully uploading the token.nmx file during the offline activation process in the NIVOMAX Self-Serve Portal.
Token.nmx File: The Token.nmx file is a unique, user-specific activation token used in the offline activation process. It contains necessary authorization details and is essential for validating and initiating the offline activation of data libraries.
Networking
Proxy Settings: Proxy settings in a network configuration specify how a device connects to the internet via an intermediary server known as a proxy. These settings detail the proxy server’s address and port, facilitating controlled and secure online access. They are commonly employed to enhance privacy, security, and optimize network performance.
