Illustrated Parts and Ordering

Last Updated on January 22, 2025 | 3 min read

Illustrated Parts Catalogs (IPCs) provide users with exploded views of a product, breaking it down into its individual components visually. This helps in identifying and locating required parts efficiently. In NIVOMAX Viewers, users experience enhanced functionality with IPCs, such as clickable callouts that directly link to related items in the parts item table. This interactive feature simplifies navigating through complex parts assemblies.

Illustrated Parts Data Publications (IPDPs) are utilized in the S1000D standard for displaying parts information in a user-friendly side-by-side layout within the viewer. These publications offer dynamic interactive capabilities, such as sorting and filtering options in the Parts Item Table, enhancing the user’s ability to manage and access parts data effectively.

Enhanced Interactive Features

  • Callout Linking: Clickable parts in diagrams link directly to their descriptions in the parts table, and vice versa, highlighting the associated parts or diagrams interactively.

In the IPDP (S1000D Data Libraries), callout linking between graphics and parts tables is not currently available on the Mobile Edition. This feature will be introduced when graphic hotspot highlighting is added in a future update.

  • Dynamic Parts Item Table: Features column sorting and filtering to aid in data navigation and management, only available in IPDPs.
  • Graphic Highlighting in IPDs: Clicking a part item link opens a new tab showing the part highlighted within the graphic.
  • Graphic Highlighting in IPCs: Clicking a part item link scrolls up showing the part highlighted within the graphic.

Shopping Cart Functionality

The Shopping Cart feature in NIVOMAX Viewers allows users to add parts from the Illustrated Parts Catalogs or Data Publications into a cart for easy ordering. This tool is accessible from both the PDF Toolbar and the S1000D Toolbar, indicated by a shopping cart icon which turns green when items are added.

Key Features

  • Adding Parts: Users can add parts to the cart by clicking on the part numbers, which are hotlinks within the Parts Item Tables.
  • Cart Access: Click the Shopping Cart icon in the Tab Toolbar which loads the Shopping Cart in the Right Feature Panel. The Shopping Cart icon turns green when there are items in the cart.
  • Changing Quantity: Enter a quantity value into the field labeled QTY * or use the arrow icons that appear when mouseover to modify the quantity incrementally. A minimum quantity of 1 unit is required.
  • Removing Items: Click icon to the right of each part item to remove it from the cart.
  • Submit for Checkout: Click Submit icon to proceed with the checkout process.
  • Clear Cart: Click Clear Cart icon to remove all items from the cart.
  • Print Cart: Click Print icon to print a copy of the cart contents.
  • Global Access: The Shopping Cart is a global feature, allowing the addition of items from multiple documents and libraries.

Note: Please note that the dynamic Parts Item Table may not load in Firefox due to a browser incompatibility. It is recommended to use Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome until future updates resolve this issue.

How to Use the IPC and IPDP Features in NIVOMAX

  1. Access an IPC or IPDP: Open a document in the NIVOMAX Viewer.
  2. Interactive Navigation: Use the links in the Parts Item Tables to view corresponding parts in the diagrams.
  3. Add to Shopping Cart: Click part numbers to add them to your cart. Manage your selections in the Shopping Cart block.

By following these guidelines, users can efficiently utilize the Illustrated Parts Catalogs and Data Publications features to enhance their technical documentation experience with NIVOMAX. This integrated approach facilitates a seamless transition from part identification to order processing, streamlining the parts management process within technical environments.
