Understanding Attachments on the NIVOMAX Platform

Disclaimer

SYNAXIOM does not distribute NIVOMAX Viewer setup files directly to end users. To obtain the necessary setup files, users must download a copy directly from the Technical Publications Supplier's NIVOMAX Self Serve portal, subsequent to agreeing to the terms and conditions stipulated therein. The Technical Publication Supplier, possessing a valid Distribution ID for their copy of the NIVOMAX Applications, is the sole distributor. Access to and use of the NIVOMAX Viewer is contingent upon the purchase of a Data License for a digital product from the Technical Publications Supplier. The digital product downloaded will function exclusively with the viewer provided by the respective Supplier. Users are advised that the distribution of NIVOMAX Viewer setup files may be governed by applicable export control regulations depending on their region.

Licensing

It is not necessary for end-users to purchase a separate NIVOMAX license. The Technical Publications Supplier from whom you have acquired your Data License has already procured the requisite licenses from SYNAXIOM. By extending an invitation, they include you within their authorized user pool, as permitted under their NIVOMAX license agreement. You are authorized to use the NIVOMAX software provided the Technical Publications Supplier maintains a valid NIVOMAX software license.

Understanding Attachments on the NIVOMAX Platform

Last Updated on March 14, 2025 | 3 min read

The NIVOMAX Platform supports three types of attachments:

  1. Temporary Revisions
  2. Supporting Documents
  3. Personal Files

This guide clarifies their commonalities, unique characteristics, and how you can access and utilize them within the platform.

Common Features

Temporary Revisions, Supporting Documents, and File Attachments share a common feature: they are all linked to the table of contents of a manual, specifically to the leaf node representing a document.

Provided by the ePubs Supplier

Both Temporary Revisions and Supporting Documents are supplied by the ePubs Supplier. These attachments are provided when a manual within a library is revised or as a separate update for its inclusion. End-users do not have the capability to remove these attachments from the data libraries.

Temporary Revisions

Temporary Revisions (TRs) are urgent updates issued by Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) or authorized entities. An official document integrated within manuals as part of the ATA-100 legacy datasets, TRs address immediate safety, regulatory, or operational issues that cannot wait until the next scheduled revision cycle. They ensure that documentation reflects up-to-date information, essential for the safe operation and maintenance of aircraft. TRs typically address newly discovered issues or regulatory compliance needs and are intended to be permanently incorporated into manuals during future updates.

  • Permitted File Types: .pdf
  • Maximum File Size: N/A
  • Viewable on: Directly within the NIVOMAX Content Tab

Supporting Documents

Supporting Documents are supplementary and not intended to be permanent parts of manuals. These documents are provided along with manual revisions or updates as optional resources that can provide additional clarity on topics discussed in the official documents. Unlike Temporary Revisions, which are mandatory and official, Supporting Documents serve as discretionary aids that enhance understanding but do not alter the manual’s core content.

  • Permitted File Types: .mp3, .zip, .bmp, .gif, .jpeg, .jpg, .png, .pps, .ppt, .pptx, .xls, .xlsx, .doc, .docx, .pdf, .rtf, .txt
  • Maximum File Size: Not applicable
  • Viewable On: Supported files are displayed directly within the NIVOMAX Content Tab, while others can be saved to the local device.

Added by End-Users

Personal Files, also a type of attachment, differ from Temporary Revisions and Supporting Documents in that they are added by end-users to the TOC tree. These personal attachments remain within the user’s account and are not shared with ePubs Publishers. They synchronize across all installed NIVOMAX Desktop and Web Edition applications associated with the user’s account, as part of the JobSync Feature. This feature uses the user’s login UserID to ensure files are accessible on all connected devices, enhancing convenience and usability.

  • Permitted File Types: .mp3, .zip, .bmp, .gif, .jpeg, .jpg, .png, .pps, .ppt, .pptx, .xls, .xlsx, .doc, .docx, .pdf, .rtf, .txt
  • Maximum File Size: 20MB
  • Viewable On: Attachments are not displayed within the viewer but are downloadable for use with the preferred third-party application.
