NIVOMAX Viewer – Release 2025

Disclaimer

SYNAXIOM does not distribute NIVOMAX Viewer setup files directly to end users. To obtain the necessary setup files, users must download a copy directly from the Technical Publications Supplier's NIVOMAX Self Serve portal, subsequent to agreeing to the terms and conditions stipulated therein. The Technical Publication Supplier, possessing a valid Distribution ID for their copy of the NIVOMAX Applications, is the sole distributor. Access to and use of the NIVOMAX Viewer is contingent upon the purchase of a Data License for a digital product from the Technical Publications Supplier. The digital product downloaded will function exclusively with the viewer provided by the respective Supplier. Users are advised that the distribution of NIVOMAX Viewer setup files may be governed by applicable export control regulations depending on their region.

Licensing

It is not necessary for end-users to purchase a separate NIVOMAX license. The Technical Publications Supplier from whom you have acquired your Data License has already procured the requisite licenses from SYNAXIOM. By extending an invitation, they include you within their authorized user pool, as permitted under their NIVOMAX license agreement. You are authorized to use the NIVOMAX software provided the Technical Publications Supplier maintains a valid NIVOMAX software license.

NIVOMAX Viewer – Release 2025

Last Updated on May 15, 2025 | 4 min read

Release Overview

  • Applies To: NIVOMAX Viewer Desktop Edition, NIVOMAX Viewer Web Edition, NIVOMAX Data Server, Network Client Viewer and NIVOMAX Mobile Edition.
  • Baseline Software Version: 3.6.1
  • Release Date: August 2025
  • Release Type: Scheduled Release
  • Latest Patched Release Version: 3.6.1

This release of the NIVOMAX Viewer introduces a streamlined, user-centric experience built on the new Out-of-Band (OOB) user validation model. Designed to simplify access without compromising security, this update also strengthens offline reliability, enhances data traceability, and improves system transparency during common workflows such as entitlement syncing, library import, and supplier communication.

The enhancements outlined below are subject to distribution-specific configuration. If you are unsure which features are available in your deployment, please contact your assigned Client Success Manager and reference your Distribution ID.

  1. Out-of-Band User Validation [NMX-V-361-1]
Introduces a simplified user experience with one-time login and persistent access across installed Viewer editions. Once configured, users do not need to reauthenticate unless required by the distribution’s entitlement policy. This feature is available in the Desktop Edition, Network Edition and Mobile Edition Viewers only. Optional OTP and forced login rules are supported per distribution configuration.
  2. Smart Connection Handling [NMX-V-361-2]
Desktop, Network, and Mobile Viewer Editions now detect and switch between online and offline modes automatically without user action. This ensures seamless access to local content in the event of network loss or unavailability of the NIVOMAX server. In supported environments, the Viewer will automatically default into an “offline mode” (similar to airplane mode) when issues are detected, allowing continued operation. This behavior aligns with roadmap feature NMX-LGN-012 (Bypass Login Requirements).
  3. Session Persistence and Workspace Sync [NMX-V-361-3]
Never lose your place—even after logout. The NIVOMAX Viewer automatically returns users to the exact state they left off, preserving open documents, zoom levels, and navigation history. Additionally, users can save their current workspace and resume it across devices or sessions. This ensures seamless continuity whether resuming work locally or transitioning between platforms. This behavior aligns with roadmap feature NMX-STE-002 (State Management Settings).
  4. Background Entitlement Sync [NMX-V-361-4]
Entitlement validation and updates are now handled silently in the background, ensuring uninterrupted user workflows while maintaining access control.

Additional Improvements

  1. Granular Link Handling and Navigation [NMX-V-361-5]
Internal navigation within documents has been enhanced. Users now benefit from improved handling of embedded links and more control over link behavior and data presentation.
  2. Version-Agnostic Data Module (DM) Linking [NMX-V-361-6]
Viewer now supports dynamic resolution of links to S1000D Data Modules regardless of filename version. Third-party systems linking to previous DM versions will automatically resolve to the latest available revision.
  3. Library Import Status Visibility [NMX-V-361-7]
When importing ZIP libraries from the Self-Serve Portal, users will now see improved real-time visibility into import progress and completion within the Viewer. This feature is available in the Desktop Edition, Network Edition and Mobile Edition Viewers only.
  4. Interactive CAGE Code Integration [NMX-V-361-8]
CAGE Codes in IPDP Parts Tables are now clickable in the Viewer. Clicking a code loads related supplier/manufacturer details in the Bottom Feature Panel. Printed and PDF outputs now include a dedicated CAGE Code Reference Table following the parts list. This behavior aligns with roadmap feature NMX-DAT-025 (Display CAGE Code Information).
  5. Silent Installer Username Default [NMX-V-361-9]
Network Edition Viewer silent installations now default the client identifier to the current Windows username, improving traceability and deployment automation in enterprise environments. This feature is available in the Desktop Edition, Network Edition Viewers only.
  6. Viewer Notices Interaction [NMX-V-361-10]
Enhancements to how users receive and interact with notices inside the NIVOMAX Viewer. End users now have more control over how they view and respond to notices published by ePubs suppliers.
  7. Stability, Security, and Performance Improvements [NMX-V-361-11]
This release includes optimizations to Viewer performance during high-concurrency usage and large content loads, improving startup time, workspace responsiveness, and entitlement synchronization. Additionally, a security update was applied to address known vulnerabilities and ensure ongoing compliance with internal session management and secure data handling standards.

Distribution-Specific Configuration Notice

Not all Viewer distributions will include every feature listed above. Features available to users are determined by the configuration selected and approved by the ePubs Supplier (License Holder) for that specific distribution.

If you are unsure which features are included in your deployment, please contact your Client Success Manager and reference your Distribution ID.
